Make sure to catch them in their Spring 2011 online storybook narrated by Uma Thurman

Ralph Lauren’s RL Gang is back, and the kids are once again dressed to impress. Didn’t catch the RL gang the first time around? Make sure to catch them in their Spring 2011 online storybook narrated by Uma Thurman. Essentially a lookbook in the form of a virtual children’s book, you and the kids can enjoy getting to know the characters (that’s Hudson above and Mae below) and follow their adventures at school. And if you like what they’re wearing, simply click away and buy the children’s clothes right off their backs.

A vision of long dresses

While every designer’s efforts and works of arts should be applauded, I was particularly impressed with Ralph Lauren’s collection. When I think of his line, lacrosse and polo-like attire comes to mind. A vision of long dresses, perfectly hemmed skirts and collared shirts dance in my head. So I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the Fall 2011 line was… sexy. But staying true to Ralph Lauren customs, the pieces had structure, class and a satisfying simplicity

it is one gorgeous morning here at The Prepatorium

Hello-Hello, it is one gorgeous morning here at The Prepatorium, bright, beautiful, and still very snowy. Sigh.  We do hope those enjoying the day off yesterday were able to revel in some relaxation and savor their time away from the daily hum-drum.
We should call this post “Tidbit Tuesday,” as we have many little updates, but no overarching theme (another classic example of our poor planning and). We begin with Ralph Lauren’s move into the luxury denim market, Women’s Wear Daily broke the story:
“The designer has introduced a luxury denim line, Ralph Lauren Collection Denim, that aims to reinvent the American classic by giving it a more luxurious twist than ever before. And he’s doing tops, blouses and shearling outerwear to go with it.”

The metaphor was picked up by Vogue Hamish Bowles

The metaphor was picked up by  Vogue’s Hamish Bowles, in her description of Ralph Lauren’s styles: “Seemed to guarantee an invitation to the captain’s table on the SS Normandie, or a first class berth on the Orient Express.” The Examiner.com came to the same conclusion: “Ralph Lauren fall 2011 collection rides the Orient Express.”

Greg is reportedly planning to launch the first serious

It must be in the genes that Ralph Lauren’s nephew, Greg Lauren designs clothing. Greg is reportedly planning to launch the first serious, high-end fashion collection which includes both menswear and womenswear. The range that is to be totally hand-sewn by the designer is to hit store this Spring.

Greg Lauren’s works are already known to customers. They have been sold by Barneys New York and a select group of other top specialty retailers.
